Initially released on VHS, the Kiwi Hit Clip DVDs are a tiny
sampling of the year's music videos funded by New Zealand on Air.
The last Kiwi Hit Clips DVD was released in 2014 and was
rebranded as NewClips the following year.
Most New Zealand on Air funded videos can now be found online.
As
Brendan Smyth said, "
Spotify
is the new radio;
YouTube is the new
television."
- The first Kiwi Hit Clips VHS was released in 1996; prior to
this, they were simply called "NZ on Air Music Video
Compilation 199x"
- Kiwi Hit Clips appears to have transitioned to DVD in 2003
- Robyn Gallagher set herself a mission: to watch every New
Zealand
on Air funded music video ever made. You can find the result
of
her quest and links to the videos at her website 5000
Ways to Love You.
