The Kiwi Gold Disc box sets released in 1996, 1998 and
2003 are focused on presenting a selection of classic Kiwi tracks
geared more toward radio friendly charting hits. Most
tracks predate the launch
of the Kiwi Hit Disc.
The first two box sets also contain accompanying Talk Discs.
This collection shows the
strength and depth of New Zealand music. While some of the
more
obscure songs may raise the odd eyebrow in question of why they were
selected, there is no hint
of scraping the bottom of the barrel; the third box is as
strong
as the first.
- Kiwi Gold Box I was initially release using a thin card
slip-case. The much thicker card used for boxes II &
III was
substituted for a later re-issue which also added the Roman numeral to
the cover and inlay spines
